Shoecyclists in Chicago are spreading kindness and care!
Kudos to our Chicago Group – Shoecyclists Arnav, Samyak, Ansh and Soham who collected over 600 pairs to help homeless individuals in Chicago.
Here’s the group handing out gently-used pairs before brutal Chicago winter!
It’s was a hot summer day and hundreds of pairs were strewn around us. By now, we know what to look for, and we sorted and packed as we reminisced about people and their stories. We see familiar faces now when we go to St. James park.
Homeless individuals have so many stories – they have lost their families, their jobs, their homes and many times their health. We have connected with so many and hopefully have made our local communities more empathetic to their plight…
PATH Services in San Jose calls us regularly for shoes for their homeless patrons…It is very rewarding to give back in little ways we can…
We are so thankful to Congressman Ro Khanna, who joined us in handing out shoes to homeless individuals in St. James Park, San Jose. As always, it is a very sobering event, as hundreds of pairs of shoes are distributed within minutes…We see familiar faces now.
We gratefully acknowledge Maxim employees who collected several hundred pairs of shoes for Shoecyclist. We sent these shoes to Hamilton Family Center in San Francisco and PATH services in San Jose.
What a feeling to give new pairs of shoes to the residents of Abode Services in Fremont. It’s unbelievable how a pair of shoes can bring a smile to the face of a small child…
To see people waiting patiently in long lines for gently-used shoes is gut-wrenching….
We are heartbroken to see this so close to home – some of the homeless individuals we met are veterans…
We are overwhelmed with the response of our community in giving us gently used shoes and new socks.

It’s not fair.
As kids, these have been our favorite words every time we didn’t get what we wanted – be it the latest gadget, good grades or just more time to play. We are sure you have heard your kids say it too…
As we hand shoes to the homeless, it is changing our perception.
What is not fair is that Silicon Valley that gave the world the computer, email, iMac, Google, iPhone, Facebook, Tesla, LinkedIn and Uber is unable to perform the same tech miracles to provide its own community members with basic necessities of life.
What is not fair is that Silicon Valley – home to worlds greatest minds, luxurious mansions and richest companies is also home to hunger and homelessness…
What is really not fair is that in Silicon Valley, a highly sought-after item today is a….

As many as 3.5 million Americans are homeless each year. Of these, more than 1 million are children and on any given night, more than 300,000 children are homeless.
While the general impression is that the homeless are primarily the chronic and episodic, those unfortunate individuals often seen living on the streets in the downtown areas of our cities, the fact is that more than half the homeless are families with children. The vast majority of these have been thrust into homelessness by a life altering event or series of events that were unexpected and unplanned for. Contrary to the belief that homelessness is primarily the result of major traumatic events or physical and mental disabilities, there are many top causes of homelessness in America.
Collected and sorted about 300 pairs of shoes to donate. We love our neighbors and community members for giving us awesome gently-used pairs!
