Sept 14, 2015 – Thank YOU, Loavesfishes.org

Loavesfishes

We had a touching conversation with Hyru at www.loavesfishes.org She told us that they serve dinner to about 70 guests on a daily basis and many of them are homeless. She said they would welcome gently used shoes and that they could use a lot of shoes…She also gave her cell phone for working out logistics, so we can call her before our trip. (Please see details in the donation list)

She said Shoecyclist kids were doing an amazing thing by helping our community – We feel it’s people like you Hyru, who deserve all our gratitude.

Sept 10, 2015 – We are Shoecyclists – Are you?

We are ShoeCyclists.

We collect shoes from people like you and determine if they can be donated or recycled. If they are in gently used condition, we give them to people who need them. If not, we send sneakers and sports shoes to Nike, who then uses them to make playground materials.

We have a sole (pun intended) motivation – keep the shoes out of landfills.

We are shoecyclists. We care about people. We care about our environment.

Sept 2, 2015 – Thank you for an overwhelming response!

We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

-Marian Wright Edelman

We mentioned Shoecyclist on a nextdoor mailing list and received numerous responses! So many of you reached out to lead your own Shoecyclist chapter in your school.

Kudos Shoecyclists for helping our local communities and our environment!
