Ira Mehta

Ira Mehta is a rising junior at Lake Ridge Academy in North Ridgeville, Ohio. She
is actively engaged in her local community. She has volunteered for the past few
years at Youth challenge where she works with children and youth with physical
challenges through adaptive sports, recreation, art, and life-skills training. She has
also worked with refugee children from war-torn countries to teach them basic
English and mathematics. She enjoys teaching Indian dance classes at her school
and raising funds for a local charity.
Being the president of the school’s debate club helped her develop her
leadership skills. Her commitment has led her to win awards in the mock trial. She
also became involved in scientific research which has led to the publication
recently-Literature Review of the efficacy of High-Volume Hemofiltration in
Critically ill pediatric patients (Blood Purification; April 25, 2022)
Her other passions include classical Indian dance, singing, and tennis. Ira first got
involved in Shoe Cyclist in the summer of 2020 and helped collect shoes for local
shelters in Cleveland. She is now excited to be an ambassador and continue
helping others.
